Aalia joined Fox News Channel's Ailes Junior Reporter Program following graduation from The University of Georgia. She was selected from a group of 500 applicants to be part of the 5-man team. Based in Tucson, Arizona, Aalia covers a wide range of topics around the Southwestern region and beyond. She pitches, writes, shoots, produces and edits all of her own stories- as well as being the face in front of the camera. Her reports air on all Fox News Channel outlets- including live on FNC, FoxNews.com, Fox Business, Fox News Latino, local Fox affiliates around the country, and Fox News Radio. Her time as a junior reporter has even taken her across the country to Iowa- where she has interviewed and covered several presidential candidates. NBC NEWS, WASHINGTON BUREAU
Aalia spent summer 2012 as a General Assignments News Intern for NBC News in Washington, DC. Each day held something completely new, from digitizing Romney press conferences to attending hearings on Capitol Hill. While at NBC, Shaheed had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of shows like "Andrea Mitchell Reports" and "The Daily Rundown" hosted by Chuck Todd- getting a chance to see how intense television news can be on both the network and cable sides.At the end of the summer Aalia's commitment paid off when one of her stories was published on "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams." In January 2013, Aalia helped develop the first ever Spanish language news broadcast at The University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Noticiero Grady airs weekly 30 minute broadcasts on local channel 15/ WUGA-TV. Her duties with the show include creating original stories for the broadcast, as well as editing and preparing the entire show for air.
Aalia works as a multi-platform journalist for The University of Georgia's Grady NewSource, the only television news program specifically servicing the Northeast Georgia area. Her duties include writing/editing/producing day-turn stories for the 5pm broadcast on WUGA-tv, creating news webcasts for Grady NewSource, and producing entire broadcasts.
